L'outil Majordomo permet de gérer des listes de courrier éléctronique d'une
manière automatique.
Cet outil écrit en langage perl permet d'administrer très simplement ces listes,
avec une intervention minimale de la part de l'administrateur.

Mandrake : distribution
Linux-Mandrake etait à l'origine (1998) une méta distribution basée sur la Red Hat
GPL à laquelle avait été integrée KDE
comme desktop-manager (interface graphique du bureau) principal.
Désormais (2000), la société MandrakeSoft fait évoluer sa distribution avec sa propre stratégie.
Les logiciels dévéloppés par Mandrake, comme DrakConf (outil de configuration),
sont livrés sous licence GPL.

MESA : bibliothèque, libre

MESA est une bibliothèque de routines graphiques conforme à l'API OpenGL. Les applications
développées pour OpenGL fonctionnent donc avec MESA.
Mesa is a 3-D graphics library which uses the OpenGL API (Application Programming
Interface). Mesa cannot be called an implementation of OpenGL since I did not obtain an
OpenGL license from SGI. Furthermore, Mesa cannot claim OpenGL conformance since the
conformance tests are only available to OpenGL licensees. Despite these technical/legal terms,
you may find Mesa to be a valid alternative to OpenGL. Most applications
written for OpenGL can use Mesa instead without changing the source code.

compression. Il existe même des baladeurs MP3 !
Pour lire un fichier au format MP3, il faut disposer d'un logiciel "player" comme
X11Amp, FreeAmp,
Icecast, GtkAmp, ...

MPEG (Motion Picture Expert Group) est un ensemble de normes décrivant des formats de fichiers
audio/vidéo ; le MP3 en fait partie.
Pour lire un fichier au format MPEG, il faut disposer d'un logiciel "player" comme
MTV Player.

MTV Player permet de visualiser des vidéos au format MPEG1.
L'utilisation du logiciel en ligne de commande est gratuite (dans ce cas, impossible de faire des arrets
sur image, de revenir en arrière, ...).
MpegTV Player is a realtime MPEG-1 Video+Audio player that runs on Linux and
other Unix platforms. It can stream from a pipe or network and supports common
network streaming (http, ftp, etc). It also plays VCD (Video-CD).
You can use the command-line MPEG player mtvp completely free of charge for

Mutt is a small but very powerful text-based mail client for Unix operating
systems. Though written from
scratch, Mutt's initial interface was based largely on the ELM mail client. To
a large extent, Mutt is still very
ELM-like in presentation of information in menus (and in fact, ELM users will
find it quite painless to switch
as the default key bindings are identical). As development progressed,
features found in other popular
clients such as PINE and MUSH have been added, the result being a hybrid, or
``mutt.''

MWM : Motif Window Manager
Un Window Manager de l'Open Group.
MWM is the Motif Window Manager, which is very popular and widespread. It is
maintained by the Open Group, and is distributed with the Motif programming libraries
(Motif is more than just a window manager; in fact, that is the least of what Motif is - it is a set of
programming libraries).
The Motif libraries and the Motif window manager binaries are distributed
with a few commercial X implementations as the default window manager; however, the it is
generally purchased from a third-party vendor, especially for free-ware operating systems
such as Linux and FreeBSD. Motif costs around $100 US.
(Less-tif is a free-ware implementation of Motif 1.2 for those without the
extra cash.)
MWM has a configuration file, .mwmrc, but this is mainly to describe the
menus and bindings - it draws most of it's customization from X Resources.
